Obituary For Willie L. Magee

Mr. Willie Lee Magee, 66, died Monday November 8, 2021 at Merit Health Wesley Hospital in Hattiesburg, MS. Services for Mr. Magee were held on Saturday November 20, 2021 at Prentiss First Baptist, with Pastor Ronnie Barnes Officiating. Interment was in the Harmony Church Cemetery, with Laird Mortuary in charge of all arrangements. Mr. Magee was the son of the late Marie Magee-Young and Willie James Holloway. Mr. Magee was reared by his grandmother Dollie Newsome. Mr. Magee attended Rock Hill Baptist Church and Point Pleasant Baptist Church, where Mr. Magee became a member. Later Mr. Magee became a member of Prentiss First Baptist Church serving as a Trustee, Deacon and singing in the choir. Mr. Magee graduated for Prentiss High School in 1973. Mr. Magee worked for the Jefferson Davis County School District as a bus driver and as Security Guard for Sanderson Farms where he retired. Mr. Magee was currently employed at Professor Corporate Energy as a Supervisor. Mr. Magee was preceded in death by brothers Odie C. Griffith and Tommy James Holloway. Mr. Magee’s survivors include his wife, Jewelene B, Magee; seven daughters, Lakeisha Hooker of Prentiss, Jenika (Antonio) Maye of Hattiesburg, Natalie Magee of Monticello, Chandra (Larry) Longino of Monticello, Teresa McGowan of Collins, Natalie (Chandra) Jackson of Atlanta, GA, and Odessa Adams of Gulfport; one son Tarrence (Katherine) Durr of Atlanta, Ga; two stepsons Johnnie (McKenzie) Bryant of Ft. Worth TX, and Jeremy Bryant of Hattiesburg, MS; four sisters, Mae Jewel Magee of Aurora, CO, Mary McInnis, Earlene Box and Wanda Young all of Gulfport; one aunt Deila Mae Lott of Prentiss; 32 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Funeral services for Mr. Willie L. Magee will be held on Saturday November 20, 2021 beginning at 2pm. at Prentiss First Baptist Church.Visitation services for Mr. Willie L. Magee will be from 1-8pm at Laird Mortuary Chapel.
